Estate Maintenance

The Estate Maintenance department has the responsibility to maintain the campus spread over an extent of 777.77 acres. The department is headed by an Estate Officer. Registrar is nominated as the Estate Officer of this Institute.

The day-to-day activities and operation of the campus are managed by the Executive Engineer. He coordinates and oversees the functions of Civil Maintenance (Inclusive of Carpentry, masonry, and Plumbing), Water supply, Electrical Maintenance, Lift, air-conditioner maintenance, Housekeeping works, and Sewage Treatment Plants (STP).

The main functions of the EMD are to organize all constructions, maintenance, electrification, and water supply of the Institute. The Department prepares proposals based on the needs of different departments for construction of new buildings, roads, electricity requirements, etc., The estimating, presentation to the Buildings and Works Committee, tendering and execution, etc. are all done by the Estate Maintenance department.

• Estate Office engineers are in charge of civil and electrical maintenance. They are also in charge of the new construction works.

• The Electrical wing is maintaining all HT/LT Electrical equipment on our campus. The Electricity for our campus is maintained by EMC after receiving the 11-kV power supply from TANGEDCO. Our Institute is availing dual source of power supply from the TANGEDCO to minimize the failure time/downtime. (One source is from Thuvakudi Substation (main) and the second source is from Vazhavandhan Kottai Substation).

• There are 2 x 1000 kVA Transformers with allied VCB panels in the main powerhouse. In addition to the 1000 KVA TFs, 11 Nos. 500 KVA TFs (11/0.415 kV) were located in 10 locations on our campus.

• The total Installed capacity of the 12 Nos Stand by DG of various capacities is 3072.5 kVA. This includes 2x750 kVA HT DG and 2x500 kVA LT DG available in the powerhouse.

• The Electrical wing is also installing commissioning and testing all electro-mechanical equipment such as air conditioners, Lifts (24Nos.), domestic water and sewage water pumps, etc.,

• The institute has various Cassette types, VRF Types, Ductable/Package ACs, and Split ACs (Approximately. 1600 Nos of Split ACs’). The in-house team and other OEMs are maintaining the overall Maintenance of the AC units, which were installed in our institute.

• Under the water supply unit, various engineers and supporting staff were working in the pumphouse throughout the day to ensure the proper water management to the institute. The Reverse osmosis plant inside the campus is also maintained by this water supply unit.

• The housekeeping team ensures a hygienic environment on campus. The Housekeeping team of the institute is maintaining the Compost Yard of the campus.

• The overall greenery of the institute is maintained by the Horticulture section of EMD. It also oversees the functions of the Miyawaki forest, Teak wood farm, Coconut farm, etc.,

• The Institute has 613 Nos of staff quarters. The EMD is also responsible for the allotment of campus and maintenance of these residences.

• The STP Team oversees the operation of 300 KLD and 800 KLD Plants inside the campus. 300 KLD is catering to the needs of the Institute and Quarters Zone. 800 KLD is catering to the needs of the Hostel Zone. The treated water is used for the Horticulture works.

• Green Campus: It's fantastic to see so many steps being taken to make our campus more environmentally friendly. It's wonderful to witness the efforts being made to make our campus more eco-friendly. Not only does it benefit our surroundings, but it also promotes a more pleasant and healthier environment/atmosphere for everyone. Additionally, it serves as an excellent example for students and the community about the importance of sustainability. we hope we can continue to explore new ways to sustain and enhance this positive trend.

• It not only benefits the environment but also creates a more enjoyable and healthy space for everyone on campus. Plus, it sets a great example for students and the community about the importance of sustainability.

• Associate Deans (Civil/Electrical), and EMD Engineers will report to the Dean (Planning & Development).
