Dr. G. Lakshminarayanan is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Electronics and
Communication Engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India. With a strong academic and research background, his expertise lies in the fields of High-Performance Digital VLSI Architectures, VLSI-based Wireless System Design, Physical Layer Design, and Algorithms & Techniques for Cognitive Radio, AI and IoT Applications. Dr. G. Lakshminarayanan has a rich professional history, including a stint at Sasken Communication Technologies Limited, Bangalore, where he contributed to an FPGA timing closure project.
He earned his Ph.D. in VLSI Systems in 2005, marking the beginning of a successful research
career that encompasses VLSI Signal Processing, FPGA-based Wireless Transceivers, and
Reconfigurable systems.
Among his notable roles, Dr. G. Lakshminarayanan has served as a Chief Investigator for the
projects funded by MeitY, ISRO-RESPOND, ISRO-STIC, MHRD-SPARC, and as the
Principal Investigator for the Consultancy project with Maxvy Technologies Pvt. Ltd., which
focused on achieving maximum functional convergence using constrained random verification
platforms. He has also been a Co-Investigator for the projects funded by DRDO and DST and
projects SMDP-C2SD, SMDP-C2S funded by MeitY. He has been awarded five patents for his
innovative work and one more filed. He has played a crucial role in establishment & running a
"Wireless System Design Lab" under the FIST Program and “Centre for SoC Design and
Fabrication” with the alumnus sponsorship.
He is the Nodal Officer of the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics & IT – Phase II.
Dr. G. Lakshminarayanan's research endeavors extend internationally. He made research
collaborations with the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, Heriot-Watt University,
Edinburgh, UK, and University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh.
