Dr. K S S Harish
Profile
- Dr. K. S. S. Harish serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, India. In 2009, he obtained his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from J N T U Kakinada. In 2011, he earned his M.Tech in Thermal Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Warangal. In 2017, he received his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India. He engages in multiple research areas, including two-phase heat transfer, heat transfer cooling, heat exchangers, alternative refrigerants, cryogenic refrigerators utilizing mixtures of hydrocarbons, expansion capillary design, vapor compression refrigeration systems, and the properties of composite materials at low temperatures. He has published his research articles in reputed journals and has been awarded a patent for alternative refrigerants for domestic refrigerators. He has ten years of experience in Refrigeration, Heat Transfer and Cryogenics. He serves as a reviewer for several international scientific journals, including Energy, Energy & Buildings, Journal of Tribology-ASME, Science and Technology for the Built Environment, Vacuum, Sadhana, Journal of Enhanced Heat Transfer, and Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry.
Low Temperature Lab is a research facility directed by him within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India. He leads a group focused on research related to the flammability of eco-friendly refrigerants, heat transfer, various cooling techniques, polishing techniques with low-temperature sources, and the two-phase flow of refrigerants and their heat transfer, incorporating cutting-edge technologies. He is actively engaged in research on Joule Thomson refrigerators utilizing mixed refrigerants at cryogenic temperatures, applicable across a temperature range of 80 K to 300 K.
