1. When are the classes beginning for the I year?
Class work begins on July 21, 2008
2. When can I report for stay in hostel?
July 18-20, 2008.
3. How much fees should I pay at the time of Admission?
Hostel Fees:
Bring DEMAND DRAFT for Rs.15,000/- TOWARDS HOSTEL FEES, DRAWN in favour of Chief Warden, NIT, Trichy-15, payable at TRICHY-15
Institute fees:
Institute fees will be adjusted in the Initial deposit PAID DURING COUNSELLING for OPEN Candidates.
BUT SC/ST Students should bring a DEMAND DRAFT for Rs.3,000/- TOWARDS INSTITUTE FEES DRAWN in favour of DIRECTOR, NIT, Trichy-15, payable at TRICHY-15
4. Should I open a bank account?
Yes, you can open a bank account in any State Bank of India (SBI) with Core Banking facility nearby your home town and bring the SBI account number. Also, there is a SBI Branch at NIT-Trichy. Students are advised to open an account at the earliest in their native place and desist from keeping large sums of money in their hostel rooms. An ATM card may also be obtained.
5. How to reach NIT-Trichy?
NIT-Trichy is located about 22 km from Tiruchurapalli Junction / Central Bus stand on the Trichy-Thanjavur Highway.
The simplest and most economical way to reach NIT-Trichy is by bus. Any city Bus at Tiruchirapalli Junction will take you to the central bus stand. Board Thanjavur bound mofussiful or route bus. The journey time from Trichy will be around 40 minutes.
The executive way of reaching NIT-Trichy will be hiring a taxi. Taxis may charge around Rs.250/-. Trichy is connected by road to Chennai (320 km) and to all major towns in South India by regular bus services. Tiruchirapalli is an important junction on the Southern Railway. It connects Chennai, Thanjavur, Madurai, Tuticorin, Tirupati, Rameswaram, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Cochin and Mangalore. It has an international airport, and is connected with Chennai (Madras), Singapore, Colombo, Kuwait, Sharjah, Calicut. Indian Airlines connects Trichy with Chennai, Sharjah, Calicut Kuwait and Colombo. Air Lanka Service connects Tiruchirapalli with Colombo.
6. What should I bring for my stay in hostel?
A good suit case/ trunk box with good lock for keeping your belongings safe. Beddings, bucket and other essential items can be procured from the shopping centre.
7. What books to procure?
The syllabus book shall be given on July 21, 2008 and the text and reference books for each subject will be listed in it.
8. Can I own a bicycle in the first year?
Yes, you can own a bicycle.
9. Are mobile phones permitted?
Mobile phones are permitted in the hostel, but prohibited in the academic zone
10. Who is the contact person for I year students?
Dr. K. Murugesan, Asst. Professor of Mathematics is the Co-ordinator for first year B.Tech. students.

Tiruchirappalli is well connected by Air, Rail and Road services. The NIT-TRICHY is situated near Thuvakudi village on the northern side of the Tiruchirappalli- Thanjavur road about 20km. from Tiruchirappalli junction. Tiruchirappalli is one of the important railway junction in Southern Railways. |

How to reach NIT-TRICHY Campus |
All mofusil buses plying from Tiruchirappalli Central Bus stand to Thanjavur stop at NIT-TRICHY (REC) Main Gate.(Tiruchirappalli Central Bus Stand is about half a kilometer from Tiruchirappalli Railway Junction). Town Bus No.128 fromTiruchirappalli Central Bus Stand to Thuvakudi stops at NIT-TRICHY (REC) Main Gate. A number of private taxis and call taxis are available at Tiruchirappalli. The approximate call taxi fare from Tiruchirappalli Railway Station to NIT-TRICHY Main Building will be about Rs.300/- |

14. Is there any dress code to be followed?

While attending classes boys and girls are expected to be in formal attire (Refer Section V 3).
Boys should avoid wearing T-Shirts and Jeans. Chuddidhars or Sarees are preferred formal dress for girls.
