The Advanced Material Synthesis Laboratory is a one of centre of research facility supervised by Professor J Sarat Chandra Babu, in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The Advanced Material Synthesis Laboratory brings to reality the collaboration of Industry and Academia by offering solutions for developing technologies in the scientific and industrial research sector with the collaboration of industrial, and research partners such as BHEL, DRDO, ISRO, and BARC.

The main purpose of this facility is to create and develop commercially viable technologies that can be put to use in the various applications. The main research of this laboratory includes: Catalysis, CFD, Particulate Material Handling and Characterization, Fluid Particle Dynamics, Nano-CNT based Composite Materials, Process Modelling and Simulation, Multiphase flows, and Carbon Capture and Utilization.

Research facilities available are: Particulate Size Analysis, Powder Flow Tester, and GC-MS.
