Introduction

The Computer Science and Engineering Association hosts an annual national level technical symposium Vortex. It was incepted grounded in the firm principles to provide a platform for technocrats to showcase their prowess in fields of Computer Science and Information Technology.

It strives as a breeding ground for new ideas and opportunities to learn; a platform to demonstrate technical competence.

Activities of Vortex

Guest Lectures

Words of wisdom by leading names in the academic arena as well as by eminent persons from the software industry to enlighten the students. Few esteemed speakers of past editions are Dr. Sudarshan Iyengar from IIT-Ropar, Mr. Manikandan Thangarathnam Director of Amazon Kindle, Mr. Narasimha Karumanchi, Author of famous book "Data Structures and Algorithms made easy" and Pramod Perumparambil WW Director, IBM Commerce - Rapid Solution Centers.

Events

A few highlights would include onsite Hackathon organized in association with Amazon and Hackerrank with prize and internship opportunity at Amazon and APIthon Challenge in association with Doselect, Goibibo.com and Houzify. Various broadly thought-out on-site and online events like Vortex main quiz, Hunt the Code, Pradarshan, Hack the Shell, Code Surf and many more have been conducted.

Workshops

Enthralling workshops on diverse concepts have been organized for students both from NITT and outside the institute. Workshops on Ethical Hacking, Game Dev, R Programming, Ruby on Rails, Python and many other engaging topics have been organized over the years.

Career Counseling sessions have also been held for the students, by the students.

Apart from these, Vortex strives to progress on its principles and the foundation built by every passing batch of students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. A Social Initiative sub-body is planned to be setup under the parent body of Vortex, Computer Science and Engineering Association.
