Biography

Dr. V. Gopalakrishnan went to IIT, Madras for his undergrad in Mechanical Engineering. He started his career at BHEL, Trichy as a Graduate Apprentice in 1969. And, after 37 years of work, he retired as Chief Executive (Executive Director) in 2006. During his time there, he was instrumental in advancing the organization in multiple ways including signing MOUs with IIT, Madras, NIT, Tiruchirappalli and PSG Tech, Coimbatore for joint work in academics and R&D with BHEL in Tiruchirappalli.

He has also been in close association with academia throughout his life and has worked in collaboration with NIT, Trichy since the early 70s. He loves interacting with students and is deeply passionate about educating the new generation.

In his free time, he likes to travel and has visited all the heritage Shiva/Vishnu temples in Tamil Nadu. He has also written a guide for heritage temples around Trichy.

He has written two novels, Dasaratha’s Son and One-eyed Men, which were published by Amazon.com, while for the third – Ripe & Rot – draft is ready.

BHEL, Tiruchirappalli – 37 years of experience, joined as a Graduate Apprentice in 1969 and was the Chief Executive (Executive Director), at the time of leaving in 2006.
