Event Format

Paper Submission

  • Participants have to submit the full paper/abstract for scrutiny.
  • Teams submitting abstracts alone must ensure that the abstract provides a detailed and comprehensive summary of the topic.
  • All teams MUST submit the hard & soft copy of their FULL PAPER, on the day of the event.
  • LAST DATE FOR SUBMISSION OF PAPERS/ABSTRACT IS MARCH 6th 2010.
  • The document format has to be Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) or Portable Document Format (.pdf) only.
  • The paper/abstract length should not exceed 8 pages.
  • Participants are requested to submit their papers in IEEE format. In case it is not possible, submitting the papers in any internationally recognized format is allowed. Else, they can submit their papers in a neat, legible, coherently arranged format, with perfect alignment, font adjustments (sizes, font type), naming of figures/tables/charts and references.
  • The title of the submitted file must be a shortened version of their paper title.
  • Kindly keep the font color of your paper as black (excluding figures, charts, tables)
  • Kindly provide your name, institute name, email address and contact number in the paper/abstract that you submit.

Paper Presentation

  • Shortlisted teams have to present their paper during the event.
  • Selected participants are requested to prepare their presentation in Microsoft Powerpoint format (.ppt) format only.
  • Information regarding the presentation time (inclusive of time for questions and answers) will be updated in this space soon.
  • However, on a rough scale, participants can prepare their presentation for a period of 12 minutes (excluding time for questions and answers)
  • Exact time allotment for questions/answers will vary depending upon the number of selected participants for the final round.
  • Selected participants will be provided with two microphones and a laser pointer.
  • They can manually change the slides/pages of their presentation, if not they can also request the coordinators to do the slide transitions.
  • On the day of the event, all shortlisted teams, apart from submitting the soft copy, they MUST also submit 4 hard copies of their FULL PAPER.

Rules & Regulations

  • Maximum of three members allowed per team.
  • Any number of teams from a college can submit their papers.
  • It is not necessary that the participants forming a team should be from the same college.
  • Participants are not allowed to submit more than one paper.
  • No participants can be part of more than one team.
  • Plagiarism or violation of any of the rules will result in rejection of paper.
  • The organizers reserve the right to change/update the rules of the contest at any point of time and will do their best to inform the participants of the same. However, it is ultimately the responsibility of the teams to keep themselves updated.
  • Participants are required to upload a soft copy of their entire paper/abstract.
  • Participants whose papers are shortlisted shall be informed personally through mail. The names as well will be put up on the website.
  • Participation certificate will be given to all the shortlisted participants.

Eligibility Criteria

Participants with a valid college identity card / bona fide certificate from their institute are eligible to participate in Magnum Opus.

Judging Criteria

  • The papers submitted will be judged on the following parameters:
    • Originality & Innovation
    • Technical Content
    • Clarity of Presentation
    • Methodology
    • Practical Application
    • Findings and Analysis
    • Conclusions
    • Implications / Applications / Limitations
  • The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.
