Dr S Arul Daniel joined the Department of Electrical and Electronics as a Research Assistant in 1989, where he is currently a Professor. He has been working on interfaces for both off-grid and on-grid wind-solar systems. Lately, his research interests have been blockchain and data analytics applications in smart grids and microgrids. During his tenure, he served as the Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering(2009-12), the Head of the Department of ICE and the Dean(Academic) of the Institute (2014-17). During his stints at the Academic office, he had steered several reforms and led the team that brought out the flexible academic system.
