ELECTRON BALLISTICS: Motion of charged particles in Electric, Magnetic and combined Electric and Magnetic fields - Cathode Ray Tubes. 2. SEMI CONDUCTORS: Charge carriers - electrons and holes in intrinsic and extrinsic semi conductors - Drift and Diffusion currents - continuity equation - Hall effect - PN junction - current equation -junction capacitance- breakdown characteristics- Metal oxide varistor, Zener, tunnel, Schottky diodes. 3. BIPOLAR JUNCTION TRANSISTORS: Current components- CB, CE, CC configurations- Input-Output characteristics- h-parameters- Low frequency and high frequency equivalent circuits- power transistors and SCRs. 4. FET, UJT and OPTO-ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Theory and characteristics of JFET and MOSFET- low frequency and high frequency equivalent circuits- theory and characteristics of UJT, Photo diodes and LEDs. 5. RECTIFIERS AND POWER SUPPLIES: Single-phase rectifiers and Fourier series analysis- filter circuits - Design of Zener and series voltage regulators- switched mode power supplies. |
