he Biomedical Device and Technology Laboratory is a state-of-the-art research facility that has developed a Jaundice Meter for neonates. This medical device has been successfully tested in hospitals, allowing for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of jaundice in newborns, thereby reducing the risk of long-term complications associated with the condition.
The laboratory is currently focused on research related to diabetic peripheral neuropathy and foot sensation in diabetics. The team is dedicated to finding new ways to diagnose and manage this condition, which affects millions of people worldwide. The goal is to develop non-invasive touch sensing technologies that can accurately and quickly diagnose diabetic neuropathy, and devices that can help to prevent its progression.
The laboratory is also actively involved in the development of point-of-care non-invasive diagnostic devices that can provide rapid and accurate diagnosis of various medical conditions. These devices aim to make healthcare more accessible, particularly in resource-limited settings where traditional laboratory testing may not be feasible.
Additionally, the laboratory is involved in the development of non-invasive wearable health monitoring devices that can measure heart rate, pulse, hemoglobin levels, and other vital signs. These devices have the potential to revolutionize healthcare, allowing patients to monitor their health in real-time and enabling healthcare providers to make informed decisions about patient care.
Overall, the Biomedical Device and Technology Laboratory is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of medical technology and developing innovative solutions that improve the lives of patients.
