Dr. Nivish George graduated from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka with a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering and started working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIT Trichy in May 2020. He served as a faculty member at Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology in Kochi, Kerala, for two and a half years. His broader research areas include Buckling and Vibro-acoustic behaviour of Functionally Graded Materials, Composite and Nano-Composite Materials, Sandwich Structures: Methodology: Analytical, Finite Element Method, Experimentation. His research works are published in World Scientific, Elsevier, Springer and Sage Journals. Focus areas for teaching include topics related to Machine Design, Mechanical Vibrations, Strength of Materials and Theory of Machines.

Lab Development and Facilities

Established NVH Testing Lab to evaluate the acoustic performance of structural elements

  • Procured Dewesoft Data Acquisition System (with Dewesoft Software) to capture the responses of the structure subjected to different excitation loads.
  • Development of fixtures capable of mounting flat plates subjected to different boundary conditions.
  • Free Vibration Analysis using a miniature accelerometer and Impact Hammer.
  • Established a semi-anechoic chamber to capture the acoustic responses from excited structures. 
  • Forced vibration analysis to capture the velocity and acoustic response of structures.
  • Capture the Hand-Arm and Whole Body Vibration.

 

Established Composite Structures Lab for the manufacturing of different composite specimens

  • Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Moulding (VARTM) setup for the manufacturing of composite structural components.
  • Magnetic stirrer, mechanical stirrer, and sonication bath for the mixing of nanoparticles and resin.
  • Vacuum oven for curing composite samples.
