Dr. S. Jerome, currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of MME. He joined this department in the year of 2006. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, completed his M. Tech, and Ph.D. from NIT Trichy in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
His specialization is in Welding Engineering, and he has established Welding Engineering Laboratory. His research areas are Wire Arc Additive manufacturing, Friction Stir processing, Cold metal Transfer welding, and Plasma Welding. He has published over 35 research papers in International Journals and Conferences of repute. He has successfully completed 3 research projects from NRB-DRDO, ISRO, and BHEL. He is also a reviewer of reputed journals in his field.
He served as a Convener of Hostels and Associate Dean (Students Welfare) during 2012-15 and 2018-20. He served as staff advisor of the MME students association from 2011-15. He served as an Executive committee member of the IWS southern zone and very active member of IWS and IIM. He served as a member of the Board of Governors, NIT Trichy during 2020-22. Currently serving as RECAL Tresurer (since October 2022).
He is currently teaching Joining of Materials, welding metallurgy, metallic materials, and Non-Ferrous Physical Metallurgy to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He supervised 4 Ph.D. scholars, and several PG and UG students most of them are well placed and working now in prestigious organizations. He organized several national & international workshops on Welding Engineering and Materials.
