The sudden drop in electrical resistivity to zero of certain materials when cooled to low temperature is called superconductivity. Superconducting materials exhibit a phenomenon known as Meissner effect in which the magnetic flux is excluded from the material. Depending on the response of the material to the magnetic field the materials can be classified as Type I or Type II superconductors.
