Magnetic Field (H)
The magnetic field generated by a current, I passing through a solenoid of turns N and length L is given by H = NI/L
The unit of magnetic field is A/m.
Magnetic Moment (m)
The magnetic moment of the solenoid is given by m= NIA and the unit is A.m2
Magnetic Induction (B)
If a magnetic material is subjected to magnetic field, the material is magnetized and posses N and S poles
The magnetic induction is given by the extent to which the lines of magnetization add to a material in an applied field
B=µo(H+M) where µo is the permeability of free space, H is the magnetic field and M is the magnetization.
Susceptibility (chi)
Susceptibility of a magnetic material determines how responsive a material is to an applied magnetic field
chi=M/H
