WELDING TECHNOLOGY
PRE-REQUISITE : Metallurgy of materials & basic mechanical design and drawing.

OBJECTIVE: The student will learn the welding techniques, application of welding and welding aspects of different materials.
1. Gas welding - process variations - equipment - welding of cast iron, aluminium and stainless steels - principle of gas cutting
2. Arc welding processes - equipment - electrodes -function and characteristics of electrode coatings.
3. Resistance welding processes and equipment - applications Special welding processes
4. Radiant energy welding processes - equipment -electron beam welding (EBW) - laser beam welding (LBW) - applications of EBW and LBW. Other allied processes and Brazing and soldering
5. Thermit welding process. Applications.
