Day to Day Activities

     As a part of Implication of Fitness activities in the Institute, The National Institute of Technology organizes various Fitness activities and constitute various clubs to endure physical exercise and sports in the institute.

The Department of Physical Education with the support of Office of Dean Students welfare introduce different activities that fulfils the goal of Fitness and develop a quality of life style among students, Faculty and staffs.

  1. Fitness Clubs:

The institute has constituted a sports committee of students , Faculty and staff to  develop  and implement different   sports activities  to develop the fitness and quality of life style of the students, faculty and staff.

  1. Fitness hour:

Everyday the institute provides facility as well as time for the students , Faculty and staff to involve in the sports and fitness activities. Different games and the gym facility is occupied by the students , faculty and staff in the morning 6am to 8am and in the evening 5:30pm to 8 pm where they involve in different sports events, Gym Training  and games which are monitored by the coaches.

(ii) Health Awareness

Health awareness run, cycling , walkathon are conducted in the institute to develop an awareness of health and fitness among the students , faculty and staff. As a part of fit India program we conducted marathon for the students , faculty and staff.

Yoga .

The institute conduct yoga classes for the students, Faculty and staff for 10 days for advance their knowledge of yoga and exercise. The specialized yoga instructors will take classes for our students, faculty and staff on different yoga exercise and to reduce obesity and attain mental stability.

4.Fitness Campaign Activity:

Expert from Sport Authority of India and various eminent personalities such as Padmini Thomas Arjuna Awardee (Athletics ) has given a talk on sports and fitness to our students . As a part of the campaign activity we organize a marathon for the students where more than 1500 students participated in the activity and the prizes where given to the winners in the marathon.

  1. Fitness Sporting Activities:

The institute organize sports tournaments for different games and sports such as Intra tournament for volleyball, basketball, kabaddi, kho-kho , Athletics and Marathon for all the students of the institute. The event  Sports fete is conducted for 3 days where more than 2000 students voluntarily participate in different games and sports.

  1. Sports Meet:

Sports Competition will be of two tier competition

(I) Intra Institutions Sports Meet.

The Institute organize inter department sports fest for the students. The games included are Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, Football , Kabaddi and Athletics. The Students get an explore as a performer and as an organizer. The prizes for the best department and Best sports person is awarded to the students.

(ii) Inter Institutional level Sports Meet at National Level.

Our students represent in various sports tournaments at national level. 250 students of different team games and individual games participated in various national level tournaments and won many prizes in these tournaments.

  • All India Inter NIT champions in Athletics meet which was held at NIT Rourkela form Januray 24th –January 26th(Overall Champions)
  • All India Inter NIT champions in Swimming tournament which was held at NIT Surathkal  from January 17th – January 19th(Overall champions)
  • All India Inter NIT champions in Volleyball (Women) which was held at NIT Rourkela from January 24th –January 26th. (Women winners& Men III Place).
  • All India Inter NIT Badminton Championship Women Winners, Men III place, Cricket Men III Place held at SVNIT Surat.
  • Our Student MERWIN MOSES from civil engineerirng participated in AWPC POWERLIFTING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP -MOSCOW , RUSSIA. U-93 WEIGHT CATEGORY GOLD MEDAL WINNER. Awarded Best Deadlifter.
