The department has necessary facilities and expertise to test water/waste water for its quality and suggest the appropriate solutions. BOD, COD, pH, TDS and salt compositions could be tested. The results will be compared with the standards and certificates could be issued notifying of the results to the customer. Based on the request, a viable solution could be worked upon a chargeable basis.
The samples of water and waste water could be tested for physical, chemical and biological properties using the available facilities. The sustainable solutions for treating waste water will be provided considering characteristics of water/waste water. The department also has necessary facilities to work on Phycoremediation, i.e. using algae for treatment of waste water. The algae research facilities established with laboratory-scale and pilot-scale photo-bioreactors that could also be used for the purpose.
