PROJECT TITLE: Semi-Autonomous Two Wheeler Mobile Robot.
In the present scenario, robots are replacing humans in not just performing the day-to-day routine activities, but also assist in performing dangerous jobs hazardous to humans, under extreme environmental conditions. Consider this scenario – Many patients in a hospital need round-the-clock intensive care, but the doctor cannot be monitoring the patients all the time. Our autonomous robot can navigate through the length and breadth of the hospital and can monitor the vital parameters of the patients and can provide an alarm to the doctor when such parameters reach a critical level. The robot can be accessed by any person in the world with a laptop using internet connection. ‘Kinect’ which is popularly known as a gaming device, will be incorporated as the eye of the robot and does not only provide the visuals, but also recognizes various objects, and distinguishes human actions. A laptop embedded inside the robot acts as the processing unit, and co-ordinate all the activities including speed control and vision processing. The BLDC motors which are commonly used in electrical two-wheelers take care of the mobility of the robot. The monitors act as a face of the robot and can be used for remote communication. The robot is equipped with Data Acquisition Hardware (DAQ) and will further be incorporated with various sensors like GPS, proximity sensors so as to enhance its functionality. The team is striving to implement more features into the bot.
