Festember, the inter college cultural, literary and arts extravaganza of our college was held in September 2006. It was inaugurated by Mr. Ashok Kumar Das, S.P., Trichy District.
The publicity team was responsible for the extensive participation in Festember ’06. Over 600 colleges were invited for the festival and students from far flung places like Bombay, Bangalore, etc. had participated. Special arrangements had been made for accommodating all the participants. Unlike the previous instances, the first year hostel was not vacated and accommodation was provided in I.M.T.I.
The Computer Support Group was instrumental in putting in Festember on the internet. For the first time, online registration was introduced. September is a month often marred by erratic rains. The Infrastructure committee had left no stone unturned so that the rains did not play spoil sport. Keeping in mind the growing gaming culture in colleges, a gaming event was introduced in this version.
Pro shows had always been one of the main attractions of Festember. The fact that we had 3 pro shows (Srinivas & Naresh, Nerve Wreck & Silk Route) in this version is also the first in our college history. The informal events have always been an integral part of Festember and this time it was extended to new dimensions.
The highlight of the informal events was a performance by Baski and his troop. There was also a village folk dance performance by a troop from Madurai . Mr.A.V.N.S Sastry , Officer-in-Charge, Technical Eduation , MHRD was the chief guest was for the valediction function of Festember. SASTRA University, Tanjore walked away with the overall winners shield and the runner-up was Mepco Schlenk Engg College, Sivakasi. Following the valediction function was a performance by Nerve Wreck and then by the Delhi based band - Silk Route.
