Department of Energy and Environment, formerly known as Centre for Energy and Environmental Science and Technology (CEESAT), established the Testing and Analysis Services (TAS) in 2013. TAS is ISO 9001:2008 certified laboratory (2015-18) in National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. The purpose of establishing this facility is to provide data collection from the sophisticated instruments to scientific community/industries for their advanced research with nominal charges. The instrument facility can be used for testing of solid, liquid and gaseous samples. The lab receives samples from all over India and appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed for testing the samples with skilled manpower. The research scholars hold the responsibilities for maintenance and operation of the instruments.
We have served a number of government/private research organizations such as BHEL, MILMA, Shasun Research Centre, NDRI, Pandian Advanced Medical Centre, etc. and also government/private educational institutions including IITs, NITs, IIFPT, SRM University, Bharathiyar University, VIT University, Anna University Chennai, Bharathidasan University, Madras University, Jamia Millia Islamia University and many more. More than 1000 samples have been tested in Differential Scanning Calorimeter and Thermo-gravimetric analysis.
Every year a promotional self-sponsored workshop is organized by the department to promote the facilities to the research/industrial personnel. The sessions in the workshop are handled by well-experienced persons from the industries/research laboratories for the respective instruments.
